Hi, my name is Maraina and welcome to my Chronicle. This is a personal and honest account of my journey to compete in my very first body building competition on October 7, 2006. On May 1, 2006 I will begin 23 demanding weeks of weight, diet and pose training. I anticipate the encounter will be physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. My quest? ... to completely transform my body, soul and mind. I am reminded daily by my favourite quote from Muhammad Ali ... "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights". In October, I'll be "under those lights!" I hope you'll enjoy reading this. Here is my story ...

Congrats Maraina, you looked absolutely sensational! I had no doubt as I knew you were in good hands. I have the most fun at these things and really feel that that's the most important part too. You get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. :o)
You achieved so much and won just by stepping onstage. It takes a lot to get into comp condition and even more courage to dress up in a tiny piece of fabric, put it out there and get judged on it. Congratulations on your first competition honey... you did awesome!! xxx
Congratulations on having the strength and courage to step up on stage, your dedication to nutrition and training in the last few months and having the confidence to get up on stage is far more than most people will achieve in their life time. You did look sensational!!!! You should be very proud of yourself!

Congrats Maraina - although I haven't been on your blog much I hear so much about your and Penny from Di. You did so well on Sat and to get up and nail your routine to different music. If we didn't know it wasn't your music you still would have had one of the best routines so amazingly delivered. Once again - WELL DONE!!

Thanks for the lovely compliment. What a riot eh? Dancing to some unknown music. I truly wasn't fraggled (?) I went out and had a good time.
Thank you for being there on Saturday. I take my hat off to you and all the wonderful girls who work at just getting up on the stage! It's frickn' hard work but surreal at the same time.
